Youth Group

Can faith be fun? We think it can! So does our greater church www.elca.org/youth. When we look at the stories of Jesus we discover images of a person who loved spending time with his friends; eating great banquets; laughing and telling stories. Jesus was a person who understood that being in the presence of God was also about reveling in the gifts of friendship. The Youth Group at Messiah Church seeks to provide an expression of faith and friendship all in the context of service. Throughout the past years many young adults have joined our youth coordinator, Teresa Palumbo palumbo@Waisman.Wisc.Edu in wonderful community building activities. It doesn’t matter whether the Youth Group was heading out to the Pumpkin Farm in the Autumn or Noah’s Ark Waterpark in the midst of Summer; whether they were heading downhill skiiing in January or catching a movie on a Springtime evening – always this group has fun!

Messiah Youth Group is also commited to faith formation. Twice a month on Sunday mornings, young high school students meet for Bible Study and conversation. Often this also leads them to Sunday Brunch somewhere in town. There are opportunities for retreats and mission trips as well (click on the button to the right to catch some highlights from this years trip to Delbarton, West Virginia).

Every three years the Youth Group also participates in the ELCA National Youth Gathering. In July of 2006 14 high school young adults participated in The Gathering in San Antonio, TX. In 2009 the Gathering will take place in New Orleans www.elca.org/youth/gathering_info.html. Come Check out Messiah Church’s Youth Group. You will learn about faith; you’ll have a chance to serve; most of all you will have fun!
