Family Ministry – A New Way to Look Ahead for Children’s and Youth Ministry
To reflect the ways in which our ministry together is growing and evolving we have adopted a new name. Sunday school, Pre-confirmation, and Confirmation continue to be key as we seek to teach children God’s story. We recognize the importance of reinforcing biblical learning with everyday living in our family homes. To that end we will continue to build on the idea that equipping families (parents, grandparents, children, aunt and uncles, baptismal sponsors and extended family) is the way to raise new generations of faithful people. God calls us into a close relationship and we will work together to nurture caring relationships within our families and within our larger church community drawn together by Jesus. As we transition and seek God’s direction our ministry with families of younger children takes the name “Children’s and Family Ministry”. Our pre-confirmation, confirmation and youth ministries take the new name “Youth and Family Ministry”. These names reflect our full partnership to involve people of all ages in our ministries focused on children and youth. You’ve likely heard it said it “takes a village to raise a child” and we know it truly does “take an entire faith community (church) to raise disciples”.
Weekly on Sundays: Beginning with Rally Sunday and concluding in early May, children of Messiah from pre-school through fourth grade gather in the Community Room at 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School opening time. After sharing in song, story and prayer together, individual grades go with their teachers to classrooms on the lower level. Sunday school concludes at 10:20 a.m. Parents are always welcome to join us for the opening time or in classes!
Please register your child(ren) for Sunday School: Forms are available on the counter outside the church office. Please complete one form per family. Include your email list so that we can send you news and updates throughout the year. We welcome new registrations anytime throughout the year and would be happy to have you join us!
