Family Ministry – We journey together through all stages of life
We are taking an “entire life” approach to faith formation at Messiah Church. Sunday school, Pre-confirmation, and Confirmation continue to be key opportunities to teach children God’s story. We recognize the importance of reinforcing biblical learning with everyday living in our family homes. To that end we will continue to build on the idea that equipping families (parents, grandparents, children, aunt and uncles, baptismal sponsors and extended family) is the way to raise new generations of faithful people. God calls us into a close relationship and we will work together to nurture caring relationships within our families and within our larger church community drawn together by Jesus.
As we transition and seek God’s direction our ministry with families of younger children takes the name “Children’s and Family Ministry”. Our pre-confirmation, confirmation and youth ministries take the new name “Youth and Family Ministry”. These names reflect our full partnership to involve people of all ages in our ministries focused on children and youth. You’ve likely heard it said it “takes a village to raise a child” and we know it truly does “take an entire faith community (church) to raise disciples”.
Parent and Family Involvement in Faith Formation. Get involved! Parents you are the most important models of Christian faith your children have. Sharing you faith at church and at home will truly bless your family. Sign up to help (see the registration form for ways you can help). Watch for upcoming opportunities to become equipped to share the Good News and witness your faith at home in everyday living.
FAMILIES WITH YOUNGER CHILDREN
Weekly on Sundays: Beginning with Rally Sunday and concluding in early May, children of Messiah from pre-school through fourth grade gather in the Community Room at 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School opening time. After sharing in song, story and prayer together, individual grades go with their teachers to classrooms on the lower level. Sunday school concludes at 10:20 a.m. Parents are always welcome to join us for the opening time or in classes!
Please register your child(ren) for Sunday School: Forms are available on the counter outside the church office. Please complete one form per family. Include your email list so that we can send you news and updates throughout the year. We welcome new registrations anytime throughout the year and would be happy to have you join us!
