Trip to Ethiopia

Nearly two years ago, Melissa and I decided that we wanted to pursue adoption as a way of adding to our family and responding in some way to the issue of childhood poverty. Around the world, especially in the Third World, children are the great majority of those suffering economic injustice. We felt that we could provide one child with a home and family - something small perhaps - but something nonetheless.

We chose Children and Families First of Wisconsin www.cffwi.org as our homestudy group and they in turn recommended Children’s Home Society and Family Services www.chsfs.org. In January of 2007 I traveled to Ethiopia with my good friend Fr. Dan Felton to gather in Badegech Ayato (her name means my hope)Melissa stayed home with the boys and prepared them for this newest addition to our family. We arrived back in the States in early February with this beautiful girl whom Melissa and I named Rachel Badegech. Below are just a few of the pictures from that amazing journey.
