Outreach

We believe here at Messiah that we are a community of faith, standing hand in hand around Jesus, the Tree of Life! We believe that everything we do in worship must lead us to care for those who are hurting in our church, in our community and in our world. To that end we involve ourselves in various ministries of outreach every week. We support in our yearly budget Synod Benevolence, Campus Ministry, Lutheran Camps, Domestic Abuse Shelter and various other charities. More importantly than simply our money however, we also support with time and volunteers many social outreach programs such as:

  • St. Stephen’s Mountain of Food Campaign
  • The Mitten Tree Project
  • Adopt-a-Family Christmas Gift Program
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Community Book Drive
  • Homeless Shelter Meals
  • Gundlach Family Fund Assistance for Women and Children
  • Bottles for Toddlers
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry
  • The Domestic Abuse Intervention Services
  • The Rescue Mission
  • Habitat for Humanity Mission Trip
  • Ecumenical Housing Corporation for low income housing
  • St. Vincent DePaul and Salvation Army Volunteers
  • Bethesda Resale Shop

This is just a brief overview of the outreach work of Messiah. In all we do we must carry on the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ to reach out to those who are most in need. If you would like to get involved in any of these projects or learn more about our Social Outreach Committee please contact Darilee Nelson (608-222-4929) or Diane Iverson (608-242-0462)
